It is made of either rice or wheat. Iam using that which is made of wheat. It was developed in 14th-century in Italy and very soon became popular in Asia. In India it is called Semiya or sev. Varieties of dishes are made of it both sweet and hot. Nutrition Summary of vermicelli: Regarding nutrition, it is good breakfast recipe. One cup of cooked vermicelli has about 220 calories. When calories breakdown in digestion it gives out about 5% fat, 80% carbohydrates and 15% proteins. Procedure: Roost vermicelli in a pan with little oil or ghee. Mix it till it turns brown.
